 Class Descriptions

8:00 – 8:30: REGISTRATION

8:30 – 9:30 Class 1: Eaton PowerXL Drive Overview
Eaton Drive Workshop Presented by James Schall – Crescent Electric Supply
In-depth discussions and live demonstrations of the next generation of Eaton PowerXL variable frequency drives, including:
1. The DC1 is the new compact variable frequency drive by Eaton. Its simple mounting and installation requirements, together with its basic parameter configuration, make this drive ideal for fans, pumps, and conveyor systems. A straightforward commissioning process makes the DC1 ideal for mass production applications in the field of machine building. Performance range up to 30 HP provide the DC1 with maximum flexibility.
2. The DG1 general-purpose drives are part of the Eaton next-generation PowerXL series of adjustable frequency drives specifically engineered for today’s more demanding commercial and industrial applications. With an industry-leading energy efficiency algorithm, high short-circuit current rating and robust design, the DG1 offers customers increased efficiency, safety and reliability.

9:45 – 10:45 Class 2: ARC Flash Mitigation
Electrical Safety / Arc Flash NFPA 70E
Presented by Michelle Haines – Eaton
An overview of hazards associated with exposure to electrical energy. Provides increased awareness of safety issues by highlighting safety standards and procedures. Finally, provides safety principles to be used for protecting individuals from potential injuries and even death caused by electrical hazards. The presenter will define the 4 categories of electrical hazards and discuss how current limitation affects incident energy levels during an arc flash event. Calculation methods for determining Arc Fault levels will be discussed as well as methods of improving safety levels in electrical equipment.

11:00 – 12:00 Class 3: ProFace Overview
Presented by Tom Droll – ProFace
This session will include an introduction to Pro-Face including a company overview and history , HMI and IPC Family hardware overview. Software tool set including GP-Pro EX and Blue Open Studio (SCADA) capabilities. Live demonstrations of the ProFace Remote Connectivity Options including Remote HMI Client for Windows and Blue Open Studio Mobile Access. HMI trends, IIoT connectivity and cloud access will also be discussed.

12:00 – 1:00 Lunch

1:00 – 2:00 Class 4: SCCR Workshop
Short Circuit Current Ratings Presented by Dan Neeser – Eaton’s Bussmann Division
In this seminar you will learn about how UL 508A affects you, how to calculate short-circuit current rating (SCCR), and NEC 2017 code changes concerning SCCR. Attendees will learn the distinction between equipment and panel ratings, along with marking requirements. Strategies for achieving high SCCR ratings to meet customer and competitive needs will also be discussed.
